Taxman I think that there are many reasons why Americans (and unfortunately many other nationalities around the world) think the French are arrogant. But, I am willing to bet that language does pose a serious problem. French is a complicated, highly sophisticated method of communication. American English is a badly butchered amalgam of Germanic and French origins. Well, even if most Americans do think the French are arrogant, at least you're not really as arrogant as Argentines!
