This highly charged debate seems absurd to us. Simone: Hi Cyrille, I know this is re your other site, but just to confirm, "He's a hoot!" is only said when someone is both funny and charming. I might also say "He's a gas!" or "He's a riot!" to indicate the same thing. They are all compliments, and they could be used to describe you. No I don't think you should stop because you might offend-your humor is very insightful.
